A month or so ago this blog incurred some sort of penalty that reduced my Toolbar Pagerank to zero.
This coincided with my joining BC and the paranoid’ inner child assumes this had something to do with the break from my previous company, but also could have had something to do with my adding BC links to the site and removing links to other sites that i was no longer working on.
Up until now I hadn’t made a big deal of this, instead I spent my time looking through my site with GoogleVision™ to see if there was anything else a miss.
Today my TBPR is back (3) and I thought it about time I came out of the closet regarding my pagerank 0 episode.
You may be interested to know that during my penalty my traffic stayed the same and the spam comments kept coming which just goes to show that the Toolbar Pagerank metric aint worth shit (pardon my French). SO if you have a Pagerank Penalty, look to your metrics and not the little green bar we know and love.

Yeah I noticed something similar with a page on directory dolphin…
One day – out of the blue – I noticed the page went from PR 4 to a PR 0 – a bit gutted to say the least – then a couple of days later it returned to a PR4. This maintained for about 2 weeks. Now the page is a PR 0.
I think bi G was just testing stuff out initially in beta and then ran with it.
(I checked this on multiple desktops in different locations – with no temporary ‘G’ ban.)
On reflection I guess the page on this particular dir did not warrant a PR 4 as this page had no real backlinks and was heavily reliant on PR flow throughout the site.
If google was not the culprit, then the only other things that I can think of would be that the webmaster changed the site architecture or adjusted sitemap priorities.
Any other thoughts?
Was it a dropped domain or something like that because thats what usually happens there.
Nah – I think it was just fallout from when all of the directory inner pages got hit a few months ago – algo tweeks or summat…
Nameserver and site owner remained the same for a few years previously from what I remember
a few months ago… was this around the june algo change? longtails got slammed pretty hard so i’d work on those deep links if possible.
Re. http://www.markrushworth.com
Have any nice links dropped out recently? Has your link neighbourhood drastically changed?
My site yourgolfguide.org went to a pagerank of 4 the other day but it was only for one day, the very next day it was back to PR0, do you know if there is any known reason for this, everything I have done SEO wise has all been legitimate and I am almost at 1000 mainly DO FOLLOW backlinks PR0-6 ( that have been indexed ), thanks
