SEO Advice: Help with Brand Name SERPS

This post isnt going to make much sense as ive been asked to remove references to the client site as im now showing for brand name searches lols…

John Asks

The site is [name removed]and to be honest I think he’d be pretty happy just to be on page 1 with the term [brand name] I wouldn’t have thought that would be too hard – but alas six months on and I’m still not getting anywhere with this one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Advice:

As you’re not after a majorly competitive term it shouldnt be too hard. Here’s what I recommend:

Try and get the brand anme in the body copy of this page (possibly a copyright statement at the foot of the site) and anywhere else that isn’t a link currently the only reference is the <h1>

Second ask the existing back-linking people ( http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http%3A%2F%2F[siteremoved]&bwm=i&bwmo=s&bwmf=s ) to change the links from the current anchor texts of ‘www.site.com’ to just the name ‘brandmame‘ and where possible get some more links using this anchor text tip: use your portfolio and social bookmarking sites.

Hope that helps
