Google Writely – an online colaboration tool

August 22, 2006, by Mark Rushworth No comments yet

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

You may or may not know that Google recently released its online version of MS Word called Writely to run along side its recent launch of Google Spreadsheet. At first glance it looks impressive with all the standard features you’d expect… but one thing has simply blown me out of the water, yes, I am THAT impressed!

You can authorise other Writely users to edit your document in real time, with up to 50 people editing at one…. just gob-smackingly WOW!

So instead of sending MS Word documents too and fro, you can now all log in together and edit the same document… you won’t even have to call to discuss your changes, simply write your intentions on screen.

Oh and as a Yorkshire Man, I can fully appreciate that once again, Google have released this software for free.

…oh and theres a whole host of other features that i’ve yet to get my teeth into…

Google’s New Accessible Search Benefits Business

July 24, 2006, by Mark Rushworth No comments yet

Last week Google announced they’re prototype Accessible Search. The search is brilliant if you don’t use Adwords adverts and like sites that are content packed, not filled with flash and bells-and-whistles.

Now I don’t expect the search to stay this clean for long before they fill it full of junk but for now it provides a fantastic alternative to the main search. Google Accessible Search

Google Broken? Update

July 3, 2006, by Mark Rushworth No comments yet

As mentioned in previous posts, Google is broken and my jewellery website disappeared from the listings (as have loads of other websites) – theres no rhyme or reason to it… I have discovered a few things that have helped my site jump back into the listings.

Make sure you don’t have digitalpoints reciprocal links active on your site.

Make sure you remove all rel=”nofollow” attributes on links

I’ve done both of these things and my website popped back into existance. (this may be conicidental but with a broken search engine and constantly changing listings these are the only 2 actions I have taken.)
